In a year that saw a record number of contest entries, Time and Space stood out in winning the Gold Medal for Time Travel Fiction.

Time and Space Wins Readers' Favorite Gold Medal

💡
Shireen Jeejeebhoy's Time and Space stands out for its daring blend of sci-fi and social commentary.

I drafted Time and Space during 2011's NaNoWriMo after spending that summer refreshing myself on theoretical physics and sketching out a way to travel centuries into the future that didn't break our current understanding of physics and time theories. I ended up breaking one part, but it's fiction, eh? And, who knows, maybe Star Trek transporters and my kind of time travel will come true one day. I think the former already has in microcosm.

Jeejeebhoy's writing is sharp and sometimes edgy, but wholly engaging. This novel will remind readers of traditional dystopian classics, while keeping its own unique modern voice. The writing glides fluidly between tense, fast-paced moments and more deliberate, profound ones. For this reason, readers will discover excitement and the freedom to process what is unfolding in each mesmerizing chapter.

Up until this year when I finished writing the third novel of The Q'Zam'Ta Trilogy, Time and Space was by far the most fun I had writing a book, fiction or non-fiction. One early reader told me that she had never read a science fiction book like mine, and she had read a lot of SciFi for her own enjoyment and for her book club. That was the best praise!

Until now.

Gold certificate issued by Readers' Favorite. Book Reviews and Award Contest. 2026 International Book Awards in recognition of excellence in writing. Gold Medal Winner. Fiction -- Time Travel. Time and Space. Shireen Jeejeebhoy. Congratulations!

Well, even including winning the Readers' Favorite Gold Medal for Time Travel Fiction!

I'd written a reminder in my calendar to check on announcement day who won, but I was so convinced I hadn't that Reader's Favorite reminding me came as a shock: "We noticed that you have not logged in to your Author Area yet to read our September 1st contest update which explains how your book did in this year's Readers' Favorite International Book Award Contest."

I stared at their email. Does this mean...I won?!

Yup.

I marveled at the way supporting figures actually expose the various sides of power, compassion, and rebellion. The world-building is brought to life by thought-provoking conflict and ways in which people wield control. Readers who appreciate intense novels with rich world-building and feminist themes will enjoy this timeless tale. -- Richard Prause 5-star review on Readers' Favorite.
