Welcome to The Atmosphere

Your email subscription from jeejeebhoy.ca blog is now coming to you via Offprint, an Atmosphere app! For those who missed the final post I wrote on WordPress explaining why I'm moving my blog to a subdomain and using Offprint to write and publish it, please click here or the button below.
Offprint made it easy to import my subscriber list, and I'll stick to publishing on Tuesday mornings, but if you don't want to receive my occasional (at most weekly) posts from my website, just hit the Unsubscribe button at the bottom of this email. I hope you'll stick around though because I'm excited about how much better The Atmosphere makes blogging and online social life!
You can also subscribe via The Atmosphere instead of by email, read Shireen's Compositions online, or add it to your Standard Reader collection.
This blog will continue to be on what I'm working on, random thoughts, brain injury life, perhaps Canadian politics or not, and once I transition my Goodreads to an Atmosphere app, book reviews. I like that one Atmosphere account (currently hosted through Bluesky) gets me into all sorts of apps, securely and with me retaining full control over all my data. No more social media platforms selling my content/info/metadata or claiming copyright over my words and images!
A fellow Toronto writer created a short video showing how one Atmosphere account works across different apps on the open web. The internet as it was meant to be, in action.
With The Atmosphere reviving my blogging life, you may receive posts occasionally rather than months apart. I've also started two new blogs that may interest you.
Brain Injury Travails. Where I reprint my Psychology Today posts, working from my first ones written in 2018. I'm currently reprinting excerpts from my memoir Concussion Is Brain Injury: Treating the Neurons and Me. I posted the excerpts in the summer of 2018 when I was in the intensive reading rehabilitation course with Lindamood-Bell. I didn't want to stop writing when I'd just been invited to blog on Psychology Today, and it was much easier to copy something from my book than write an original post!
Mind Explorer. This will be my Substack newsletter that focuses on religion, philosophy of mind, and related subjects. I've designed and set up the blog, but I've yet to import my published Substack posts. I'm hoping to take this live soon...depends on when Offprint's developer drops the import feature.
I mulled over whether to schedule publishing my posts or continue to publish them whenever I write them. Since Offprint, unlike my current setup, sends the email at the same time as I publish a post online, I've decided to schedule publication for early Tuesday mornings, when you're used to receiving them in your inbox.
In Novel News...
I'm midway through editing the third and last novel in The Q'Zam'Ta Trilogy. I'm hoping to finish edits by early September and then a printout will be sent to my loyal reader who always gives me informative feedback on my novels. Earlier first pages critique and beta reading gave me great insight into what to improve and what to expand on.
I'm excited about this novel that's set in the far far far far future Toronto. I've borrowed language changes and technology from Time and Space, my favourite novel to write, but I've also invented new architecture and technoloy for this one while following Revelation's reveals of life after Satan is chained until the Book of Life is opened. I'm aiming to release it at the end of 2026.
Meanwhile, check out my August post on Psychology Today where I talk about the research behind coping after brain injury.
